The Serpent Shield is a Hardmode, post-Plantera accessory that has a chance to be dropped by Flying Snakes. When equipped, it increases defense by 2 and causes up to two vipers to shoot out from the shield, seeking out enemies and latching onto them. Enemies latched by a viper take rapid damage and are continuously inflicted with the Venom debuff.

- This item is a reference to the light novel series The Rising of the Shield Hero, in which the main character Naofumi uses a similar shield.
