DurationInfinite, until death.

The Sharpening Station is a furniture item that, when placed and pressed  Interact on, applies the Sharpened buff, which increases armor penetration of all melee weapons by 12 / 4. This lasts for until death, but can be canceled at any time by right-clicking the icon (tModLoader versiontModLoader 1), by selecting the icon and canceling it in the equipment menu (Console version), or by double-tapping the buff icon (Mobile versionOld Chinese version).

It can be found in Underground Cabins in the Underground Jungle. On the PC version PC version, Console version Console version, Mobile version Mobile version, and tModLoader version tModLoader version, it can also be purchased from the Merchant for 10 during Hardmode.

Notes[]

  • The armor penetration bonus also applies to damage done by summoned minions, but only while the user is holding a melee weapon. It also applies to projectiles fired from magic and ranged weapons, however, it only applies to the projectiles when the user is holding a melee weapon after having shot the projectiles already making it not suitable for practical use.
  • Unlike the Crystal Ball, the buff structure for mages, the Sharpening Station cannot be used for crafting. This may mean those with a use for items crafted with a Crystal Ball will need to purchase both a Sharpening Station and Crystal Ball (despite potentially not needing the buff it grants), unless one is found in an Underground Cabin.

Trivia[]

  • In real life, sharpening stations, also known as grindstones, are used to sharpen blades.

History[]

  • Desktop 1.4.4: Buff duration changed from 10 minutes to lasting until death.
  • Desktop 1.4.1: Can now be purchased from the Merchant during Hardmode.
